Coaching Exchange Guidelines

Thanks for your interest in the Coaching Exchange Program.  Below you will find the guidelines for the program that will answer many frequently asked questions.  Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.

WHO
The Coaching Exchange Program (CEP) is available to any coach that has graduated from an ICF accredited coach training school, who has achieved certification from ICF or who practices according to the ICF Code of Ethics.

WHAT
During the coaching exchange, you agree to coach one CEP member while being coached by another CEP member.  You agree to coach and be coached for 6 sessions in total.  Each session should last around 50 minutes.

WHAT ELSE
It is expected that you will treat your coach and client with as much respect and professionalism as you would when coaching a regular client.  This includes, among other things, timely responses, not cancelling sessions at the last minute and being totally present for each session.

WHAT IF
What if things aren’t working out with my client or coach?  If things don’t seem to be working out please try your best to contact the person directly and discuss any issues or obstacles.  If there are still problems please get in touch with me as soon as you can so I can try to intervene or re-match you.

WHERE
Coaching can take place via telephone or Skype, as agreed upon by each coaching pair.  The coachee should make the initial contact to their assigned coach.

WHEN
Rounds will begin approximately every 10 weeks and you should aim to complete your 6 sessions within that time frame.  Once you receive your coach and client names the client should contact their coach to schedule their sessions.  Call dates and times are to be worked out to a convenient time for both parties.

WHY
As a coach, having your own coach is just about a necessity.  This exchange provides you with the opportunity to have your own coach and also to experience how other coaches practice.  Additionally, coaching another coach can help keep you on your toes professionally!  At the end of each session each person will be asked to fill out a short evaluation form to be given to their coach.  Your client may want to provide a testimonial that you can use on your website or other promotional materials.

WHY ELSE
By participating in bartered coaching you will earn hours that will count as paid coaching hours towards ICF Certification. If you are pursuing certification from another issuing body you will need to check with them to see if these hours will count towards their certification.

WHY NOT
Good question.  :-)

HOW
Just do it!  Say yes when asked about each upcoming session.  If you can’t make a round please indicate that as well so we know how many coaches we have for each round.  You can participate in as many rounds as you would like…there is no limit.

HOW ELSE
Stay tuned for a website with online registration so you can ensure your spot without waiting for an e-mail from me!
